About Lynn Hamel
Lynn was artistically minded from an early age and at seven years old created the 'Goggins', a group of characters that formed a number of stories that Lynn wrote and illustrated.
Lynn would be diagnosed with autism at age 18, specifically Aspergers Syndrome, and the artwork she did was a way to lose herself in her own world.
The medium of wool art, that would eventually develop into the style of art you see on this website, began when Lynn lived in supported accommodation in Kendal. One of her friends there had some blank canvases, and a number of the residents created scenes based on the four seasons; Lynn chose spring, creating the artwork by gluing strands of wool directly onto the canvas.
Lynn began to produce artworks using this same technique for friends and family, and later made small cards for a local shop in Kendal, featuring sheep, with each card being individually hand made.
At the same time, Lynn had already completed a number of large canvases of various subjects, so producing prints of these canvases and selling them as greeting cards was the next obvious step, resulting in where we are today, with Lynn selling a wide range of cards across a number of shops.
Outside of the art world, Lynn has achieved significant success in sport, most notably
a number of British championship wins in cycle racing. In 2008 she won the British
Best All Rounder championship (BBAR), a year-
